YOKEとして初となるSpiber社のBrewd Protein™️を使用した24SSコレクションを製作致しました。

 

Spiber社が開発するBrewed protein™︎繊維を使用した2024SSコレクションが発売されています。
アイテムはニット3型、デニムジャケット1型、デニムパンツ1型、カットソー3型の計8型で展開しております。
 

SpiberのBrewed Protein™素材は、自然と共に循環する社会の実現を目指し、15年以上もの研究を重ねて開発されてきた、新しいカテゴリーの素材です。最植物由来のバイオマスを原材料に使用した微生物の発酵プロセスにより生産され、様々なアプリケーションへ活用でき、Brewed Protein™ポリマーを紡糸したBrewed Protein™繊維は、シルクのような光沢と繊細さを持つフィラメント糸、さらに上質でなめらかな肌触りのカシミヤや嵩高性に優れたウールのような紡績糸などに加工することができます。同繊維の生産規模が拡大していくと、同社が初期的な注力分野としているアパレル産業向けのテキスタイル用途において、例えば、高級獣毛でありながら、様々な環境リスクを指摘されているカシミヤ繊維と比較した場合には、温室効果ガスの排出量の大幅な縮小と土地や水の使用量の削減が、また、Brewed Protein™素材自体は生分解性を有するため、最終製品の設計によっては石油由来製品によるマイクロプラスチック排出の課題解決への貢献が見込めるなど、従来の動物由来、植物由来、合成素材に代わるソリューションを提供することができる次世代の素材として期待が寄せられています。

The 2024SS collection featuring Brewed Protein™ fiber developed by Spiber is now available. The collection includes 8 items, consisting of 3 knits, 1 denim jacket, 1 pair of denim pants, and 3 cut-and-sew pieces.

 

Spiber's Brewed Protein™ material is a new category of material that has been developed over 15 years with the goal of achieving a society that circulates naturally. It is produced through a fermentation process using plant-derived biomass as raw materials and can be used for various applications. The Brewed Protein™ fiber spun from Brewed Protein™ polymer has the luster and delicacy of silk filaments, as well as the high-quality and smooth texture of spun yarns like cashmere and the bulkiness of wool. As the production scale of this fiber expands, it is expected to contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and minimizing land and water usage compared to cashmere fibers, which are considered a luxury animal fiber with various environmental risks. Additionally, since Brewed Protein™ material is biodegradable, it is anticipated to contribute to solving the issue of microplastic pollution caused by petroleum-derived products, depending on the design of the final product. It is expected to be a next-generation material that can provide a solution that replaces traditional animal-derived, plant-derived, and synthetic materials.
